State + Rain: Baby I've been runnin' down the devil

When Suno v4.5 dropped, I was struck by how well it could one-shot a song with minimal input. So I gave it a challenge:

What if I only prompted it with a U.S. state... and the word “rain”?

Just that.
No characters, no storylines, no emotional cues.
Just: Texas Rain, Mississippi Rain, Florida Rain, Colorado Rain—on and on.

To my surprise, Suno did the rest. Not only did it generate coherent lyrics, it invented entire moods and story arcs. Some nostalgic, some cinematic, some funny or objectively bad, and some devastating. It’s like each place came with its own imagined weathered memory.

I was watching a Mariners game and noticed it was raining in California. I wondered, what does California rain sound like? So I typed it in. Then I typed in another. And another. The next 120~ generations were worth sharing.

I ended up with a 50-song playlist.
Some feel deeply personal.
Some feel like someone else’s dream I got to overhear.

Here’s a teaser from one I thought turned out especially well — Kentucky Rain:

[Verse]
Seven more days of Kentucky rain
Tearin' me apart like an airplane
Hurricanes never change the wind
Wind only changes the weather we're in

[Verse]
Whisper your name through a shower of sparks
I was never the flame I was only the dark
You were the light I was lookin' for
You were the night I was sleepin' towards

[Chorus]
And oh Lord
Give me one more
And I know
Lord
It'll take more than seven days
To keep me away from you

[Verse]
The weather is what it is
Life is just a hurricane
But a hurricane without the wind
Is only the rain
And when the wind changes
The weather changes too
And it all changes
When I look at you

[Verse]
Seven more days of Kentucky rain
I know where to go when I go insane
The weather is what it is
And love is what it is
And life is just a hurricane

[Chorus]
And oh Lord
Give me one more
And I know
Lord
It'll take more than seven days
To keep me away from you

I’d love to know what you hear in these.
Which ones feel like the rain you know?
